The French Committee for Open Science has published a guide on open science containing a set of tools and good practices. It provides guidance to PhD students at every step of their research career and covers topics such as the planning of an open approach and the disseminating of research content.

Wiley has launched the interdisciplinary Open Access journal Natural Sciences. The journal was initiated in context of Projekt DEAL. It fully embraces open research principles and covers physics, chemistry, biology and their interfaces, as well as seminal works from related fields such as engineering and biomedical research.
Gerard Meijer (FHI) will serve as one of the Chief Editors of Natural Sciences and Bretislav Friedrich (FHI) takes over the function as Executive Editor.
The first issue will be published in January 2021.
The Max Planck Society has established a new transformative open access agreement with Nature which allows corresponding Max Planck authors to publish open access in Nature and other Nature Research journals (except Nature Review journals) under a Creative Commons license (CC-BY); under the agreement, the article processing charges will be paid centrally by the MPS.
It also covers read access to all Nature journals (incl. new launches).
The agreement will be in effect from January 1, 2021. Articles published online after January 1, 2021 are eligible – relevant is the online publication date.

The cOAlition S will implement Plan S from January 1, 2021.
The cOAlition S is the initiative of a group of national research funding organizations that will make Open Access publishing mandatory in their funded projects from 2021. cOAltion S is supported by the European Commission and the European Research Council (ERC).
The cOAlitions S has developed Plan S, which states that scientific publications from funded research must be published immediately in Open Access after the rules of the Berlin Declaration on Open Access.
Plan S sets out 10 principles. The most important points are:
To fulfill the requirements of Plan S, authors can publish their scientific results in full Open Access journals. In addition, it will be possible to publish in so-called transformative journals in the coming years. Authors can also use the green road of Open Access to meet the requirements of Plan S. Therefore, authors can publish in journals that allow them to store the accepted author manuscript without embargo in our institutional repository MPG.PuRe. Please contact the library for assistance.
By the End of 2020, cOAlition S will implement a Plan S Journal Checker Tool. This offers the authors a helpful tool to decide in which journal the next publication, e. g. of results from an EU project, should take place.
