Web of Science News: May 2012

The Web of Science (WoS) May release includes some enhancements. Among these are:

Left hand truncation

  • Now Web of Science supports left hand truncation in the topic and title fields.

More complete cited references data

  • More items in Web of Science display more complete cited reference data including full article or book title, publisher information and URL.
  • From now on it’s possible to mark and export the cited references from an article’s bibliography.
  • These more complete references provide more ways to search for cited references. WoS now enables to search for a cited article or book title in a Cited Reference Search. But bear in mind that citation variants are common so that citations which are not cited correctly will not be listed. A better practice is to use the journal abbreviation.
