Two New EPJ Open Access Journals

The European Physical Journal (EPJ) enlarged their series of peer-reviewed journals by two new open access titles which are now accepting submissions:

EPJ Quantum Technology
http://www.epjquantumtechnology.com/

EPJ Techniques and Instrumentation

http://www.epjtechniquesandinstrumentation.com/

Both journals are published under the brand SpringerOpen. All articles from MPS authors (corresponding author) accepted by SpringerOpen journals are centrally paid by the Max Planck Society.

New Open Access Journal: Optical Nanoscopy

The first issue of Optical Nanoscopy has been published in December 2012. It is an open access journal published under the brand SpringerOpen and it covers papers dealing with “principles, development, and applications of optical imaging with spatial resolution substantially better than half the wavelength of light.” (more about the journal’s scope at http://www.optnano.com/)

The Max Planck Society has a central agreement with Springer. Therefore, all articles  from MPS authors (corresponding author) accepted by SpringerOpen journals are centrally paid by the Max Planck Society.

Frontiers launches new Open Access Journals

Frontiers, founded in 2007, is an open access publisher based in Switzerland. The current repertoire of 12 online journals covering academic fields in the life sciences has been supplemented by some new open access journals in the fields of chemistry and physics. At Frontiers, peer-reviewed articles appear under a Creative Commons CC-BY license, so that authors retain their copyright.

The Max Planck Society and Frontiers already signed a publishing cooperation agreement last November. Here is an extract from the press release:

[…] all publication charges for research articles submitted by authors affiliated with any Max Planck Institute will be directly and fully funded by the Max Planck Society. This institutional agreement is valid for all current and future Frontiers journals.

Among the 13 new journals are:
Frontiers in Chemistry
Frontiers in Energy
Frontiers in Physics

Energy Science & Engineering

The online submission for Wiley’s new Open Access journal Energy Science & Engineering is open now. Papers on fundamental and applied research on energy supply and use can be submitted.

Article publication charges are paid by the Max Planck Society for all corresponding authors of the Max Planck institutes who publish articles in Wiley Open Access journals.
