The Max Planck Society and De Gruyter have signed an agreement to cooperate in the publication of Open Access books. The agreement regulates organizational, legal and financial conditions (e.g. the use of the Creative Commons license). The specific details should be determined in a seperate agreement, which the author enter into with the publisher. Furthermore the MPG will not pay publication charges centrally.

The new library building of the Bibliotheca Hertziana will be officially opened tomorrow. The Max Planck Institute for Art History is located in the heritage-protected centre of Rome. So the conditions for the urgently needed construction work were very difficult and took more than ten years. The new library, designed by the Spanish architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg, surrounds an open interior courtyard and is flooded with light.
