Open Access Journal on Photonics

APL Photonics BildThe American institute of Physics (AIP) has launched a new authoritative open-access peer-reviewed journal. APL Photonics covers all areas within the field of photonics like quantum optics and cryptography, novel materials and engineered structures, nonlinear optics and nanophotonics as well as physics of light sources.

The International Year of Light started to tribute the global significance of light-based technologies.

Issues of the Journal will come at spring 2016.

 

 

New Open Access Journal: Advanced Science

The new open access journal Advanced Science has published its first issue.The journal covers all areas of science.

Article publication charges are paid by the Max Planck Society for all corresponding authors of the Max Planck institutes who publish articles in Wiley Open Access journals.

New OA Journal Joins the Science Family

The new open access journal Science Advances will join the Science family (AAAS). It will cover the entire range of science including engineering, environmental, mathematical and physical sciences amongst others.

The submission is already open and the first papers will be published in February 2015. As the Max Planck Society is a subscriber to Science journals, MP corresponding authors gets an discount on the article processing charges.

‘Nature Communications’ is Going Open Access

The Nature Publishing Group’s journal Nature Communications will move to gold open access. The journal was launched as a multidisciplinary journal in 2010. It will only accept open access research submissions from 20th October 2014.

A report (pdf) by the Research Information Network shows “that there is a significant benefit for article views and downloads, as well as a small but significant citation benefit to publishing open access in Nature Communications”.
