New Podcast Started by Max Planck PhD Net

The Offspring Magazine is a new podcast series by the Max Planck PhD Network. It is addressed to early career researchers and focuses on topics like the life of phd students, career opportunities and problems in academia.

Episodes #03 and #04 deal with Open Science and presents an interview with Peter Suber, a famous Open Access expert.

The Software Heritage initiative is building an archive of software source code. It aims to preserve and share all software that is publicly available in source code form and provides unique identifiers. More than five billion files from more than 88 million projects are available up to now.

The Software Heritage was founded by the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation Inria. The UNESCO supports the project and some private companies funds it.

OpenCon 2017 in Berlin

This year’s OpenCon will be held in Berlin on November 11-13, 2017. The Max Planck Society will host OpenCon 2017 at the Harnack House. Organized by the Right to Research Coalition and SPARC, OpenCon is the largest worldwide conference on open access, open science and open data for the next generation.

Application to attend OpenCon 2017 in Berlin, Germany will open on June 27.

OpenCon Satellite Event in Berlin

There will be an OpenCon satellite event in Berlin on the 24th-26th November. This event will form one of the many international satellite events of the OpenCon 2016 conference that will be held two weeks earlier in Washington DC. It will focus on putting Open Science into action through open collaboration.
