Data Impact Award 2021

Der Stifterverband verleiht 2021 zum zweiten Mal den Open Data Impact Award. Dieser Award soll im Rahmen der Initiative “innOsci – Forum offene Innovationskultur” den Beitrag leisten, Open Data in der Wissenschaft zu stärken.
Der Preis ist auf mindestens drei Jahre angelegt und bietet:

  • Eine Fördersumme von insgesamt 30.000 Euro, verteilt auf drei Preisträger
  • Sichtbarkeit für Preisträger und Thema durch Medien und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
  • Zugang zum Netzwerk von innOsci

Bewerben können sich Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler oder Forschergruppen aller Disziplinen mit einem Sitz in Deutschland, die Ihre Forschungsdaten offen gestellt und eine innovative Nachnutzung außerhalb der Wissenschaft entwickelt oder ermöglicht haben.

New Open Access Feature in Google Scholar: “Public Access”

Google Scholar added a new feature to the Scholar profiles to help you track and manage public access mandates for your articles. The Public Access section is meant to be an overview to check, whether your open-access mandated papers are freely available or not.

  • Contains articles that are expected to be publicly available
  • Click “VIEW ALL” to check those articles mandates and see if they are available
  • If publicly available, PDF or HTML links appear
  • Authors have to manually update or correct the listed articles

Authors are encouraged to check their profiles and make corrections or updates to their list of articles.

The new feature has also been critiqued by some sources, citing that Google Drive should not be used to deposit your papers. To make your research publicly available, you can deposit your published articles in repositories such as the MPG’s PuRe, guaranteeing the long-term availability of these documents.

Wissensstadt Berlin 2021

Der Berliner Senat richtet anlässlich der 200. Geburtstage Rudolph Virchows und Hermann von Helmholtz’ ein umfangreiches Veranstaltungsprogramm zu großen Themen unserer Zeit “Gesundheit, Klima und Zusammenleben” aus. Ab Ende Juni finden stadtweit über 100 Veranstaltungen (vor Ort und digital) und ein großes Open-Air-Programm statt. Ein Höhepunkt ist die zentrale Open Air-Ausstellung mit Bühne am Roten Rathaus.
