NOA is a search engine for scientific images from open access publications. It is based on automatic harvesting and indexing of figures from the fields of engineering and technology. NOA is using the infrastructure of Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.
New Open Access Journal by RSC
The Royal Society of Chemistry has launched a new Open Access journal named Nanoscale Advances. It is a collaborative venture between RSC and the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) in Beijing, China.
Authors have a choice of two Creative Commons licences: CC BY or CC BY NC.
For the first two years, RSC is waiving all article processing charges.
OA Publishing with the Royal Society
Now the Max Planck Society pays the article processing charges centrally for the following gold open access journals by the Royal Society:
Conditions for open access publishing:
- A Max Planck author must be the corresponding author of the article.
- The author is affiliated with a Max Planck Institute and publishes under this affiliation.
- Acceptance date after July 1, 2018.
Royal Society Open Science
It is a gold open access journal by the Royal Society. The journal covers the entire range of science, engineering and mathematics. It offers open peer-review as an option and articles embody open data principles.
Open Biology
It is an online journal that welcomes original, high impact research in cell and developmental biology, molecular and structural biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, immunology, microbiology and genetics.
New Open Access Journals by IOP
Now the Max Planck Society pays the article processing charges centrally for the following new gold open access journals by the Institute of Physics:
- Journal of Physics Communications
- Environmental Research Letters
Max Planck (corresponding) authors can already publish open access at no costs to themselves in the New Journal of Physics.
The publication charges for three further new open access titles from the “Journal of Physics“ series on the topics “Energy“, “Materials“ and “Photonics“ will be funded by the library. However, there are no publication fees for the first 50 articles in these journals.
